Day 7: Remembering 9/11

Day 7: Remembering 9/11.

12 years ago when tragedy hit our country I was sitting at home recovering from the flu.  That day was probably the first and last day I would ever say I felt blessed to be sick.  My mom wanted to be sure I would always remember the significance of that day so she took me to my grandparents house to watch the news footage.

I can remember sitting in between her and my grandpa on the couch, sipping ginger ale, and being completely overcome by sadness.  As a 5th grader I didn’t understand the full reality of the events that occurred that day. I did understand that our whole country was grieving.

Today, I feel the need to take time and honor those who have passed away from the events of 9/11 in my own way.  When the American Flag was designed the colors Red, White, and Blue were chosen for specific reasons.  Red: signifying valour ing hardiness and. White: signifying purity and innocence. Blue: signifying vigilance, perseverance, and justice.  I feel honored and privileged to be able to wear these three colors as an American.
Outfit of the Day:
BLue and White striped dress: American Eagle $20.00
Red Wedges: Payless Shoesource $9.00
Red Belt: Target $12.99
White Necklace: Target $17.99
