I think it's safe to say we all struggle with our hair now and again. When I get stressed, experience weather changes, or even food changes: my hair suffers. I constantly am battling scalp shampoo buildup, an awful  combination of oily and dry hair, and repairing heat damage. I have 5 steps that I have been following that have changed my hair and scalp. I literally do not recognize it anymore!

Step 1: Only wash hair twice a week.

Yes, I only wash my hair twice a week. I slip my hair in a bun and rinse off each day. This has changed my hair in the best way. It doesn't get as oily anymore. The transition was difficult but if you stick with it, your hair will be so much healthier You will need to invest in dry shampoo though. I LOVE this ONE and this ONE.

Step 2: Condition from the ends of hair up to base of head.

I used to condition my hair all the way up my scalp...whoops! You only need conditioner on the part of your hair that doesn't absorb the natural oils. For me, this is at the base of my head. I start my conditioner at the tips of my hair to add the most moisturizer there, then slower lather it up and stop at the base of my head.

Step 3: Shampoo twice.

Use a smaller amount of shampoo and shampoo twice. This helps to really clean your hair and make sure you didn't miss anything. You can also use two different shampoos for solving multiple problems. I use THIS one for helping with my scalp, and THIS one to help keep it moisturized!

Step 4: Scalp mask once a week along with the scalp shampoo.

I have always struggled with dry scalp. Your scalp holds onto shampoo when it's dry, especially if you have thick hair like I do. I have to use the highest power setting on our shower head to rinse my shampoo. I found this Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Pre-Shampoo Mask that completely changed my scalp. You use the small brush that is included and press it into your scalp. I make about 1/2 inch wide parts along my hair and brush the mask along the part. Let it sit for 10 minutes before you shower, then wash it out with the Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo. These products smell amazing! You can find them at Target for a price that won't break the bank. A product that helps my hair and my wallet is a win-win!

Step 5: Hair turban to dry hair 3/4 of the way.

I started using a microfiber hair turban a year ago. I haven't stopped using it since. Instead of towel drying your hair that can cause frizz and breakage, wrap your hair in THIS and let it absorb the water. I let my hair stay wrapped in this for 30 minutes, then it only takes me about 5 minutes to give myself a super simple
blow out. No more standing and drying my hair for 30 minutes!

I hope these steps will help you have renewed healthy hair! xo
