Dry Shampoo: Not Your Mother's, Dry Bar Detox, Dry Bar Brunettes, Dry Bar Triple Sec, Dove

Question: do you use dry shampoo? If you said no, then I have some reasons why you should be. If you said yes, I probably still have a reason why you should be using it in other ways. I first discovered dry shampoo years ago, I bought one from Walmart. With my color of hair, it was NOT a pretty picture. I have to say dry shampoo brands have so far since my first experience.

Dry Shampoo 101: Typically, dry shampoo is used for the days that you don't wash your hair. It's generally a spray or powder that absorbs the excess oil on your hair and scalp. Basically, a shampoo for your hair without needing water.

Now for what you probably didn't know....

Ways to use dry shampoo:

Texturizer - I spray dry shampoo in my hair when I have freshly washed hair so that it has a better texture when I style it and my bobby pins stick in it better.

Volumizer - Need a lift? I am always wanting more volume in my hair so this is my go to product. I spray it underneath the top layer of my hair, let it dry, and then fluff it with my fingers.

Lock In Teasing - For extra volume, I will spray my dry shampoo on my roots, tease, and then lay my hair over it. It locks the teasing like a charm!

Grip - When curling my hair or straightening my hair and it's super clean, I will spray this as I fan out my hair to let my hair hold onto my styling tool easier. This helps to speed up the styling process too, your hair won't slip off your curling iron as much.

Cover Grays - The brunette one is amazing to cover grays! I don't know personally, yet, but I know my Dry Bar Brunette and my Batiste Brunette both have a tint to them that will cover those for you!

Texture for Braiding - When my hair is fresh and clean, I will spray it while fanning my hair to get my braid to stay together through the day. Especially, when I am pulling my braid apart to have a looser look this trick comes in handy.

Styling up-dos - When you need texture to let your updo have layers of volume and curls. Spraying dry shampoo through the hair before you style and as you style it! This also helps the bobby pins to stick.

Brands I like and why:

Dry Bar (Detox) - This is by far my favorite dry shampoo. It actually soaks up the oils like it should and retexturizes it so I can style it. I love the smell of Dry Bar products. This dry shampoo is also great to use for all the other uses I listed above.

Dry Bar (Triple Sec) - This is my GO TO texturizer. I use it to refresh my style during the day, I even have a small one in my handbag. I use this one to help give texture when my hair is freshly washed and to give it grip while I style it.

Dry Bar (Brunette) - If I have a lot of oil on the top of my hair on the crown of my head, I will use this one. This is when I have to use a lot of product so I need it to blend in with my hair. It has also been used to color gray roots or stray gray hairs.

Dove - This one is great for when you have a little oil you need to help absorb. Generally, I use this one on day 2 hair. The smell is great and the price is RIGHT.

Not Your Mother's - I just recently tried this one and love it. It's probably my second favorite. I love the lightweight feel of it. This one is great for light oil, needing texture, lock in volume, or add grip.

Batiste (A hint of color) - Just like the Dry Bar brunette dry shampoo, I use this one if I have a lot of oil on the top of my hair. The tint in the product blends in with my hair. It's also been used to color grays.

Amika - I loved this one but ran out of it and threw the bottle out. It's a great one for texture, locking in volume, or absorbing a light amount of oil.

Rock Your Hair (Spray it Clean) - This is a great one because it sprays clear! It's great for light oil, adding texture, and help to lock in volume.

Dry Shampoo 101: you need to be using this no matter your hair type.
