Trends can be intimidating, especially if you don’t know where to begin with styling them. Flares are one of those trends that are fun but intimidating at first.
I have worn flares during a couple seasons in my life, each season this trend was worn differently. In 5th grade, I wore sparkly denim flares. Yes, I wore them just about every day until they had holes in the knees! In 12th grade, these flares were much more conservative in color but the exaggerated silhouette was so fun. Granted, I wore these with puma sneakers and a sweatshirt, but hey, I was in high school. Now, I wear flares with chic sweaters and heels! My how far I have come.
I found these flares at Abercrombie and Fitch for $15, they are high waisted and smooth out your legs. I went with a high waisted option because it elongates your legs. If you are shorter, a high waisted option is a must otherwise, the exaggerated leg is going to make you look short.
You can wear flares with a relaxed tee, a long duster, and wedges for Spring. I wore them with THIS cute flared sleeve sweater and heels for a cute Winter look. I passed by my mom when Jason and I were headed to do these photos, she said, “Man you look me from my college years!”. I don’t mind a bit. She happens to be the most beautiful and classicly dressed woman I know!
Where to start on finding a style that works for you? Go and try them on! Bring a couple pairs of shoes with you so you can see which silhouette is the most functional for you. Heels and long flares may not function well for a mama of little ones. Try all waistlines and brands until you find the right ones. Old Navy has some adorable options that are super affordable. Now go try this style with confidence!
