Travel Guide | Bend Oregon

Jason and I went over the mountains and stayed in Bend Oregon last weekend. To say we enjoyed ourselves would be an extreme understatement. We LOVED our time from the hotel we stayed at to the incredible local food we ate!

Hotel: Riverhouse on the Deschutes

I found this hotel listed on Expedia for a killer rate and immediately booked it without telling Jason. PS this is NOT sponsored in any way, I was so impressed with this hotel that I had to share it.

When we arrived, Jason checked us in. They sent him with a little welcome kit for Montana (our beagle if you haven’t met her yet!). They had a doggie dish, toy, treats, poop bags, and a cute sign for our door! I was blown away. We have stayed in pet friendly rooms before but this was by far the BEST we have ever been taken care of.

Our room was right on the Deschutes river where our patio opened up to the riverbed. If you stay, ask for 1309! We could take Tana right our back door to go the bathroom. Two queen beds, two sinks, HUGE mirrors, and a Keurig. The colors of the room were so calming and welcoming. It was minimalistic in the best way.

We sat on our patio and had coffee on Saturday evening before leaving for Dinner.

Funny story: After we returned from dinner, I went to the main lobby to see if they had more K-cups for our morning cup of coffee. They had ran out, in the whole hotel! There was a conference going on that weekend so I am guessing people were drinking lots of coffee. They promised if any k-cups were found they would bring them to us in the am. We returned to our room and not 5 minutes later they called to let us know that guest services was delivering k-cups to us! Going out of their way to make sure we had our morning cup of coffee was HUGE for me.

Sunday morning we walked around outside before we left. There is a covered bridge that connects the two parts of the hotel, you can see the most beautiful landscape of the river this way!

We will definitely be returning!

DINNER: Wild Rose Thai

The line was out the door so you know it’s good. This was recommended to us by about 6 people so we had to go here. The inside of the restaurant was so eclectic and chic. Dried roses lined the ceiling, tan tufted backrest lines the outside tables, and the cups and dishes were all different! I was obsessed. We both got a fun beer and the PAD WOON SEN, I got steak and Jason got chicken. This was amazing!!! Northern Thai is very different then the Thai I am used to eating but the flavors were bold and comforting.

As we were sitting outside in the morning, drinking our coffee, Jason said he really wanted pancakes! I can’t have dairy so breakfasts places that can have good options for me are hard to come by. I remembered a friend recommending Chow for breakfast, after realizing they have vegan options, we packed up and left! The wait was about 30 minutes, which is always a good sign. It was in this cute little house with a big patio area in front. They had fresh coffee and a fire going to entertain you before you sat down to eat. I ordered the Pumpkin Vegan pancakes and bacon, it was to die for! Jason ordered the big breakfast with a side of pancakes. We ate a late lunch after this 😉

These are the delicious Vegan Pumpkin Ginger pancakes with vegan butter!

SUNDAY LUNCH: Sunriver Brewing

We were so starving at around 3:00 for lunch we stopped at the first thing we could find that had a patio for Tana. Sunriver Brewing came highly recommended so we took a chance and oh boy, glad we did. They had a fire on the patio and little dog water dishes. I got the Turkey Dip sandwich and Jason got the Cheddar Bacon burger. Both were so filling and had the most amazing flavors. Sorry, no pictures. We ate too fast!

Jason and I both LOVE Crux. This was the one brewery stop we made. They have this area on the side of the brewery for families and dogs to enjoy! Food trucks lined one side, big fire pits with benches around them, and then this big field in the center. Tana was in heaven saying hi to everyone as we enjoyed our beer. I love the Gimme Mo IPA and Jason loves the Half Hitch. If you are in Bend, you need to stop here.

Coffee: Sisters Coffee Company

On our drive up we stopped in Sisters for my FAVORITE coffee place, Sisters Coffee Company! I bought a mug, obviously, and some amazing coffee to put away until we buy our house! We love walking through downtown Sisters and take in all the shops. I saw a cute little dog shop and had to get Tana a treat! It’s a pink donut so she was obviously obsessed 😉

Pilot Butte state scenic viewpoint

I visited the summit when I was in grade school so I don’t really remember it. We stopped here on Sunday. It’s literally 5 minutes away from the main road through Bend. There is a sign in the center that shows you which mountains are which. On our drive back home, we were actually able to tell which peaks we were driving by which was pretty cool! The views were amazing from the viewpoint.

Bend Factory Outlets: we scored some killer deals at Nike for Jason! $5 t-shirts and a $7 jacket!

Mill District in Bend: this is the best area in Downtown Bend. All the good restaurants and eateries are here! PS they have a Patagonia store that had both of us drooling.

We will be returning to Bend Oregon!
