I cannot believe 2017 is ending. It feels like it just began. Sharing our life update today, we have some exciting news for y’all!
PS Families who drink Starbucks together, stay together! She has a puppiccino…
aka whipped cream!
We rang in the new year watching Rouge One in theatres with my parents! My sister and brother in law were supposed to join us but they had sick kiddos. We went to their house the next day and played games while snacking all night long!
This month was filled with lots of Snow days and adventuring with Jason! Evening snow walks and relaxation during the cold weather.
Our little family took a road trip to Whitefish Montana to be with Jason’s side of the family. We hardly see them anymore so this trip was so special! Lots of snow tubing, snowshoeing, walking on a frozen lake in Glacier National Park, and family memories made!
Spring was starting to hit! We went to the Tulip Gardens in Woodburn and took in the Cherry Blossoms at the Capital building.
Celebrated being out of the Marine Corps for one whole year. We survived the first year of adjusting to civilian life! barely….
I landed my first career job in the marketing department of a local financial institution! I run their social media, write on the blog, and help with countless other marketing tasks. It’s a huge job but one I am very passionate about!
I can’t remember what we did this month, isn’t that terrible!
Jason took me kayaking for the first time and I LOVED it. Well, after he realized I wasn’t strong enough to go upstream and we stayed in an area I could manage. We cannot wait to buy our own when we have a garage to store them.
I dusted off my tennis rackets and started teaching Jason in the evenings. Some evenings the games are a little shorter than others 😉 but we are loving the exercise!
Montana had dental surgery. Poor girl had an infection in her gums that rotted two teeth and part of her jaw bone. The hardest thing I had to walk through with her. No more chewing on bones or hard objects for her. This happened the day before our family camping trip.
Camping with my side of the family was a blast! We went to Elk Creek Campgrounds towards the coast. No electricity and no cell phone service. It was pure bliss! We were right on the edge of the creek where we could hear the water as we went to sleep. My mom and I walked into the water with our chairs and tanned in the water for about two hours one day. We played dutch blitz to all hours of the night, ate like kings and queens with our Dutch Oven, went night fishing along the river, and took “baths” in the frigid cold water as fish swam through our legs! As I am writing this, I wish I could go back to that point of relaxation. It was so good for our souls.
We bought a Prius again! We missed ours from California so much that we were on the hunt for a good commuter car and couldn’t pass on this one.
Took a quick weekend trip to Bend and stayed at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes! I wrote about our weekend HERE. It was so relaxing and we ate way too much amazing food.
Both Jason and I have November birthday’s so this is an insane month for us to begin with! We escaped for a weekend in Seattle and stayed at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel that was by far the most AMAZING hotel we have stayed at. I am writing about our experience shortly, I am having technical difficulties with our photos so I haven’t been able to publish it yet.
During our time in Seattle, we took a walk through at the Flagship Nordstrom and I died. I was showing Jason all of my favorite designers and my favorite bucket list items…little did I know he was taking REALLY good notes!
Celebrated Thanksgiving with family at my parent’s house. It was a weekend celebration that was full of SO many memories snuggling with nephews and our niece, lots of good food, and chai lattes!
I celebrated my golden birthday, I turned 27 on the 27th! Jason organized a family dinner at my favorite pizza place, MOD, and a dessert at my sister’s house! I felt so special and celebrated.
Jason isn’t into having parties so we kept his birthday super low key this year. Some year I will do it up big!
This month started off with lots of adventures celebrating Christmas.
We went to the Oregon Garden Lights with my sisters, brother in law, and the kiddos! It was pure magic. The first time I had ever gone and am so excited about going next year! Every inch of this wooded area is decked out with Christmas Lights!
I have a very dear friend that was born with spinal bifida and cerebral palsy, her name is Andrea! We have gone to Disneyland twice before and went this December together for the 3rd time. It was magical being there at Christmas time and seeing her filled with joy being in her happy place. We spent 5 days in the parks filling her autograph book and pin trading lanyards! She has such a special place in my heart, I wish that life had more days in it so we could see each other more often. Treasuring those memories made with her!
When I returned from our trip, my grandpa passed away. He had struggled with dementia for a number of years and was ready to be home with the Lord. It hit me hard and I am still having a hard time with it. During this time of heartache, I am reminded of just how special my family is. We have all come together and supported each other through this time. My grandma is a rock star, being the rock in this family and reminding us we will see him again. I couldn’t have walked through this time without Jason. He has been there literally every tear, breakdown, and every event with my grandpa’s passing. I am not taking these people for granted, treasuring them more and more each day.
I hinted earlier this month that we have some big changes coming in the year 2018! I can’t say what they are yet, I was hoping I would, but will hopefully be able to say soon!
Thank you so much for your
love and support of us over the years!
I love sharing these life update posts with y’all!
Here’s to 2018 being the best year yet!
Thanks to Brianna from The Modern Sojourner who captured these AMAZING family photos!
