5 tips for Wearing a Red Dress.

DRESS: c/o Shein | HEELS: Steve Madden | EARRINGS: similar HERE ($15!) | LIPS: Lipsense Blu Red
During this time a year, red dresses start popping out of our closets. If you don’t have one in your closet, I am sure you have thought about during the Christmas season. Red is my favorite color to wear in the Winter. It’s a classic statement and makes just about any rainy day more beautiful and enjoyable.
Pulling off a red dress isn’t always easy, though. There are different shades of reds that look better on certain skin tones. Styles that flatter better than others. The biggest thing is your accessories since red is such a bold color. I have broken this down into 5 easy tips to pull off a red dress this season!

ONE: Choose a tone that flatters your skin. Fair skin tone: bright or an orange red. Medium skin tone: a rich red is best. Dark skin tone: a cool blue red, this is one with a cooler undertone vs. the warmer undertones.

TWO: Choose a style you are confident in. Whether this is an off the shoulder, fit and flare design, pencil skirt, or a mix of them. When you are confident in what you are wearing, it shows. Ask a friend too!

THREE: For a more classic take, opt to either show more leg or more shoulder. One or the other keeps you on the classic side! This dress came almost to my knees which balanced the off the shoulder!

FOUR: Don’t be afraid to match your lipstick with it! I LOVE a red lip with a red statement piece. This ties in the color for your entire outfit. You can slightly smoke your eyes out for an evening look or keep it super creamy for a more daytime appropriate look.

FIVE: Accessories, keep them simple! I went with a black strappy heel and a fun statement earring. To complete the look, I would wear a black clutch and a black pea coat. This makes your dress be the statement! If you want to wear a bold necklace vs. a bold earring, that totally works as well. One or the other for balance.

I hope this gives you a bit of confidence to pull that red dress or skirt out fo your closet.
If you don’t have one and have been wanting to buy one, go now!

Here is a sneak peek of another glam Christmas outfit I have coming this week!

The worst mocha ever but the best day.

SWEATER: c/o Chicwish | JEANS: Paige | BOOTIES: BP (similar and on sale HERE!) | LIPS: Lipsense Blu Red
This was the WORST mocha ever but I sipped it proudly as my husband took me shopping for my birthday. This was huge for me, malls tend to be an environment that he doesn’t particularly like going into…such as most guys. We started our morning by buying coffees at Starbucks inside a Safeway on our way to the mall. First mistake. I took a sip and thought that it was super watery butI didn’t ask for them to remake it. Second mistake. I did, however, proudly sip the worst mocha ever because I loved that my husband was taking me shopping and making me feel so special. The worst coffee I have ever had was not going to ruin this amazing day.
Even with the counterfeit mocha in my hand, I felt so cute and comfortable in this look. I have been living in this sweater! Seriously, the color is so gorgeous! It’s a lightweight weave but still extremely warm. I have it front tucked to create a more flattering line on my body. I have worn it untucked as well but prefer it this way.
I loved this color with a pop of red. I actually like most colors with a pop of red but that’s besides that fact because this combo was dreamy. I kept the rest of my pieces neutral for a fresh look. Perfect for entering the Winter season where the sun isn’t shining as much. I let my outfits bring the color to my day!

Tree Hunting Outfit.

SWEATER: Hollister Co. | JEANS: Paige | BOOTS: Hunter (on sale HERE) | HAT: Target
(code: COLD for 25% off)| SCARF: similar HERE (code: merry 40% off) | LIPS: Lipsense Blu Red

We are headed to get our tree this weekend and I wanted to share one of the best ways to pick out your tree, in a cute but functional outfit. Yes, if you go to a tree lot, you can wear just about anything. Here in Oregon, you go to a tree farm and cut it down yourself so it’s fresh. It’s really an enjoyable experience, one I have missed the last 4 years while living in SoCal!

It’s often very cold when you go out tree hunting, so layers of coziness is essential. I would wear this look with my big puffy jacket but you had to see this look without it. The boots are functional because…mud. It’s a tree farm. I wear thick socks to keep me warm in these!

Accessories are essential, this hat is from Target from the $1 section and the scarf is one from a couple years back but any plaid scarf will do! I LOVED all the pops of red. It made me feel so cheerful, especially for picking out the perfect Christmas tree. My mom says I look like the elf on the shelf, I took it as the best compliment!

When you go pick your tree out, have a little fun with your outfit, even if it’s functional!
